This past Tuesday (July 21) AJ and I celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary! We took Thursday and Friday off work, so we drove up Wednesday night to Port Clinton, Ohio. Just an easy 2 hour drive. It was so nice to not have a deadline to be anywhere, just drove up once we got everything packed. We brought a bottle of wine and managed to get to Rite Aid AT 9:00 as they were closing the doors so that we could get the bottle opener that I forgot (oops!). So anyway, we spent the evening with pizza and wine and TV. That alone is my idea of a wonderful vacation :)
We woke up Thursday at around 9:45 (be jealous), still made it in time for continental breakfast at the hotel, and then headed out to see the sites. It was raining so we just drove around for a while before deciding to head over to South Bass Island. A fact that I didn't know before this trip is that Put-in-Bay is a village ON South Bass Island, the island isn't actually called Put-in-Bay. Anyways, we took the ferry over and as we did, it stopped raining. We rented a golf cart in case of more rain and drove into town for lunch at Put-In-Bay brewery - delicious!!
We spent the day driving around and getting our bearings..the island is really very small by golf cart, so we saw a little of everything. Keep in mind that on a Thursday during the day, there isn't much of the weekend drinking crowds, so it was nice and quiet. We did some walking around in the shops and saw some touristy things and a lighthouse and then headed back to the ferry when the rain started again.
Friday we woke up at 9:30...I love vacation. First we went to this Drive thru African Safari Wildlife zoo. I had seen it advertised and just had to see what it was all about. AJ did NOT have any interest in going, but humored me. It literally was a drive thru zoo, the animals came right up to your car and ate feed that you got as you drove in out of your windows. There were mostly deer and reindeer but some zebras, giraffes, bison, buffalo, some animals I didn't know what the heck they were! The pictures kind of say it all. For the most part we were both terrified of the huge reindeer, they would put their entire head and torso in your window looking for food - well at least that's what we observed happened to other cars. We kept our windows rolled up until the baby deer were the only ones around! AJ was nervous for the car when the animals seemed they were going to eat it or knock it over, but he enjoyed himself. Next we headed to Mon Ami winery on Catawba Island. They weren't doing any tours, but we did some tasting of some great wine and bought a few bottles to celebrate our anniversary. They even gave us complimentary wine glasses that said Happy Anniversary from Mon Ami - very cool. Finally, we headed back to South Bass. We had planned to see Kelleys Island as well, but knew there was more we wanted to do at south bass, so we decided to save that for next years trip. We got to the island (the ferry was about 20 minutes to a half hour depending on how many cars were on the ferry weighing it down) and rented bikes this day because the weather was sooo nice. We went to the state park to check out the camping scene (where we will definitely go back to!) and then rented kayaks. I don't think either of us anticipated how much work that was going to be and there was so much boat traffic that it was really really wavy - AJ actually got seasick! But we kayaked for about an hour and a half before heading back in for dinner. So it was Christmas in July at put-in-bay and apparently that is a big drinking holiday...as it seems most weekends are there, and so we got back off the island before we observed too much craziness. We spent a little time driving to Marblehead to see the lighthouse before heading in for the night.
Saturday morning we headed home early for AJ to be in Sean Geraghty's wedding. It was a really nice ceremony and reception - so nice to be a part of and a really happy day for the families you could tell. I'm not ready to go back to work this week, but I am so grateful I got to have a nice little vacation with AJ!
I'll have to get Aimee over here again to show me how to post the pictures in slideshow form - it takes way to long to post them one by one! So for now, photos to follow!

So last weekend I took a course all weekend in Cleveland, so I was very much looking forward to a relaxing weekend after basically working for two weeks with no break.
Unfortunatly, at 3am on Friday night/Saturday morning, we were awaked to some people fighting in the street out front of our house. I got to make my first 911 call -- not so exciting. It wasn't until after the police showed up and the people scattered that we realized that in the chaos of things AJ's back window of his jeep had gotten smashed. Things could have been much worse in many ways, nothing was taken, I don't think that the intention was breaking the window, but at any rate, it made for a long night without a lot of sleep.
Saturday was Sean and Carla's rehearsal dinner which was fun to visit with friends and just relax a little. Got a GREAT night of sleep on Saturday.
Sunday we went to church, made pancakes and eggs for breakfast and then I got to cleaning. I am so ashamed to say that we moved in to this house in September of 2008 and almost a year later I still had some unpacking to do. I cleaned and finally unpacked the last of the boxes in the study. Even though doing this meant some of the stuff was just rearranged to clutter up other areas of the house, I feel great that the room is finally clean, pictures are hung, and I can see the beautiful hardwood floor! Hopefully it makes it easier to use that room, it is a great sunroom on the front of the house, just been too cluttered to really appreciate! It has about 8 windows, I can't wait to afford to replace them all, but I guess one project at a time :)
It's hard to believe that AJ and I have been married for 2 years on Tuesday. It feels like the time has flown, but I also can't remember what it's like to not be married! I feel lucky to have married my best friend (and to be able to use that total cliche) and we're lucky to have so many friends and family who have supported us along the way.
We don't have any major plans for Tuesday (that I know of), but we both took off Thursday and Friday, so Wednesday night we're heading to Port Clinton, Ohio for some rest and relaxation, a little beach time and generally just a break from reality. Not exactly a second honeymoon, but I can't wait!!

Due to the acknowledgement that there actually is interest in this blog... :) I wanted to update!!
I've had a crazy past two weeks...recovering from my surgery was much harder than I expected, but I am finally on the up and up. Going back to work was very tough, but I made it through the week, and am very disappointed to have to go back tomorrow lol. The weekend was great. It started Thursday with a party at Matts - unfortunatly had to let everyone have a lot more fun than me secondary to work in the morning, but still fun! Friday Bush and Neil came into town for our 3rd annual 4th of July together. We gathered friends and went out to first friday - tons of fun, like a high school reunion in the streets of downtown. Spent the 4th on the porch with friends and family for the obligatory cookout...threw in a little basketball- we have a hoop in our driveway that I've been uncertain would hold up to actually playing with. The only basketball we had needed inflated and was illustrated with Space Jam on the side, but both basket and ball held up for enough fun to keep us busy for a while :) Mary B came through with the sparklers...they're like crack, you can't stop playing until they're all burned out - lots of fun - but didn't sparklers used to leave a trail of light and smoke so you could write your name in the air? Andy Toth made a special appearance - great to see him and catch up after so long. Spent Sunday watching tennis -- how quickly I became addicted - sorry Roddick :(, and catching up on crap DVR shows...I love sundays. Except for sork tomorrow :( It's going to be a long week...

I'm still alive...
I haven't posted in...forever. But I'm still alive and I guess I have some updating to do. Since the last post, our bathroom is done, we have some new furniture, Mary K graduated - I saw Barack Obama - she moved home, we went to Bush and Neal's wedding, did some yardwork and cleaning somewhere along the way, 2 of my great friends had babies, I'm sure a few more got pregnant, andddd got sliced open to remove the cyst on my ovary which leads me to today where I'm stuck on the couch with a week off work and a sore stomach. Things went well, I'm just feeling like i did 3 million situps. Everyone has been so so helpful with meals and toys and love. Patty came all the way from wooster to make me dinner last night and it was delicious. Plus she left me all the sex and the city dvd's and so now I'm rotting my brains...i'm sure aj is loving this. So now I'm going to try to do some catching up... I can't remember how to do the picture slideshow thingee and I think Aimee is on vacation already so I'm going to play around for a while and I may or may not add pictures. \
ok, can't figure out the slideshow thing, so here's the abridged version:
--new spare bedroom!!!

--new bathroom!!!

--our lovely back deck, not pictured - gate to the neighbors!

--new dining room table

--new 2-tiered table

--stained glass window!!

--with abby at bush's wedding!!

--I LOVE this beautiful bride!!!
OKAY this program loads photos too slow- that's a quickee synopsis of what's been going on :)

Spent the afternoon in the sun on the back deck...cooked out, cut out a chunk of our fence for our passageway to our amazing neighbors :) :) life is good.
my back is now killing me from the start of MUCH yardwork to come, we pretty much will have to re-grass our entire backyard. i don't know if re-grass is a word and I don't know how to do it either but my dream is to have a lovely plush backyard that is very green and nice to play in. i have big dreams. :)
so excited for this weekend, we're not going out of town for the first time in a while and really not many plans. hope to get some more yardwork done in the 80 degree weather (!!!) and also hope to paint the spare bedroom (FINALLY). i hope that we do all the things that i hope to do...bottom line i'll be happy to have a relaxing weekend.
and next week is a 2 day week!!! wednesday i go to columbus with my boss and another boss for company orientation...that will be fun...?? then thursday and friday i took off and it's off to morgantown for the weekend to see ellen and joe - hopefully the weather will again be on our side and we'll get to spend lots of time outdoors in the sun :)

is it spring yet???
Just wanted to give anyone who follows a glimmer of hope that I haven't gone into complete depression (based on my last blog) :) Things are tiring and complicated at work and home, but things are looking up and hopefully going in the right direction.
Last night we had a fun game night with friends, and although I was exhausted when my alarm went of this morning :-) We had so much fun - it's definitly Tuesday nights like that why we moved home. We realize that we need to catch up on our movie and Office trivia, but it's still fun even if we are not the ones winning.
We've gotten to fire up the grill a few times in the past weeks (in between rain) which I totally love. Makes it feel like summer. I cannot wait to spend the summer on our back deck and I can't wait till its warm enough to plant trees and flowers and shape our little oasis (and make a gate to our lovely neighbors backyard!)
Big changes at work -- suddenly I am the only PT in the facility...I'm stressed to the max, but I also somewhat embrace the challenge. It should be interesting anyways :) Lots and lots of paperwork and catching up to do, things will probably get worse before they get better, but I know they will get better eventually.
Bushy's wedding shower/bachelorette party this weekend...cannot wait to see her and pretend I'm in college and young again-party time!

slacker
Hi I am a major slacker. Things at work and home have been so busy and stressful and I've let been letting it all get to me...hopefully once the spring finally breaks through, my mood and energy level will improve.. things I haven't written about...a stint of running daily followed by falling off that bandwagon again, a few baby showers, and a visit from ellen and joe, to name a few. Spending a bit of time trying to clean up and revamp the backyard, finishing up the bathroom - i promise pics will come soon. We had some leaky pipes and had the pipes repaired. Trying to catch up on sleep constantly. I don't know what it is! AJ is learning the guitar (thanks Daniel) Work is exhausting but still good I guess. Some days are better than others I guess, same as any job. Nothing new and exciting just wanted to make a little update. Hopefully next entry will be more fun.

its starting to feel like spring...
For the record, I have ran 3 times since the last post, so I'm getting there :) I've also been trying to do step aerobics twice a week which is a really good workout surprisingly. I like it because I feel like I'm in a music video. There are no mirrors so I don't see how obviously bad I am and how I would never really be in a music video.
We had a really nice weekend...Out to dinner with mom and dad on friday night, saturday got my hair done, bought a new dryer (can't wait to get it!!!), and headed to mentor to see patty and fam. Had such a nice visit, it's so nice to have good friends to be able to spend family time with :)
Today we started the day cleaning but on an innocent trip to return some things to various places and dropping off the recycling, we ended up doing a LOT of shopping instead but it was fun to have a little shopping spree. We got some roman shades to put finishing touches on our bathroom (pictures to come!), AJ got a lot of clothes for the upcoming golfing season and I got some new running shorts...oh and an Indians tshirt...we can't wait to go up to games this spring/summer!!! So good to be in canton :-) Came home and went for a run...ready to take on the week!

today
well, because we finally had a free weekend, and we couldn't just let it be, we went up to michagin to visit AJ's mom Debbie. It was long overdue to see their great new house and we had a great relaxing weekend. We got some shopping in and some much needed napping while watching movies :) Unfortunately, Michagin got a lot of cold rain over the weekend, but it was nice and cozy to spend family time :)
Got home and tried to spend all remaining energy on cleaning the house...it didn't last very long, but at least the house is a little bit cleaner :) I need an energy rush in the worst way..I've told myself I'm going to start running this week, maybe if I post it in my blog it will hold me accountable - wish me luck!

march
well, it's march...i can't believe i've been working for a month already. It seems so crazy that I waited so long for this and now it's just here and part of my daily life. Not too much exciting is going on, after all of our busy weekends in February it was nice to take this past weekend off and relax a little before busy March starts. I have 3 baby showers to go to in march (one was yesterday) which is really crazy to me, especially because before Marlene's shower yesterday I hadn't been to a shower before and now I have three in a month! Very fun and exciting and I'm taking notes for all the things I would want at my future shower :-P
Our bathroom remodel is ALMOST done and I'll post all the before and after pictures when it is, but I will be so so glad to shower upstairs!! Thank you Brian!!
Not much exciting to report, but things are good, AJ and I are finally getting over our colds and are on a health food kick so I'm feeling pretty good!

my life today..and the past few days
i feel totally horrible today with a really bad cough so i'm hoping that the cure is a good dose of the internet.
this past weekend we went to louisville to visit our friend Omar. AJ and Omar were in the Navy together which is how i got the pleasure of knowing him...he was AJ's best man in our wedding and we haven't seen him since then, he lived in florida for a while and now hawaii...rough life. Anyways, he previously lived in louisville and was visiting there for the weekend, which was pretty close for us to meet him for a visit!
the drive down was pretty easy except for the fact that i got pulled over after pulling out of a gas station without my lights on..duh beth. omar got us the hotel as our wedding gift and it was really nice with the exception of the cheerleading competition that was going on lol. we went out for a few hours friday night and then stayed up till 4am chatting and catching up and looking at old hilarious pictures and ordering pizza at 4am..yeah there's a place there that delivers that late!! :)
the next day we did some shopping and i got to visit with abby weaver (such a cute house!!) before going out to dinner and then to THE most amazing concert - Sondre Lerche and Brandi Carlile with the Louisville orchestra. they each sang their respective sets with the orchestra backing them up--it was soo awesome. We were really pumped for sondre but brandi carlile was totally amazing - if you haven't heard her i recommend looking her up, she has an absolutely amazing voice and sounded so great with the orchestra.
somewhere along the weekend i picked up a terrible lung rattling cough, but it was overall a really fun time :)

(not) skiing
So I want to write about last weekend before it's this weekend. :)
The plan was to go to Davis, West Virginia for cross country skiing with mom and dad, ellen and joe, mary k, jen, kennedy and liam. jen and kennedy are joe's sister and brother in law and liam is their adorable son. Joe booked an amazing cabin with 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms and best of all an outdoor hottub, which was really the main reason I was excited to go. Even though it took 5+ hours to get there on a Friday after work, when we finally got there I immediately opened a beer, got changed and got in the hottub. It was fabulous.
It was a really great weekend - so relaxing and so much fun with family. Jen is pregnant with her second little boy, so it was great to see he with her big belly :) I love big bellies :)
Saturday morning AJ and I made breakfast eggs and sausage...then we were off to cross country ski. Even though there was no snow anywhere around the cabin we were told that the resort makes their own snow and was kind of up in the mountains, so we would be fine. But when we got there....snow was still scarce. Liam was able to find small patches that they packed that were good enough for him but the rest of us decided to just hike and rent snow shoes in case we came across any snow. The hiking was up hills that people would normally ski down....meaning SO steep! We definitely got a workout. Snow shoeing was actually really fun, it was my first time - it's a great way to have your hiking not be interupted by the snow, there's small grippers on the bottom so you can just keep trucking. We ended up hiking up to the point where we were as high as other ski mountaintops!
Saturday night the boys cooked us an amazing valentines day dinner, almost burned down the porch with the grill, and another night in the hottub!
Sunday we did a small hike before heading home by way of Pittsburgh to suprise Shayna :)
It was so great seeing the Shaws, I miss them a lot and I can't believe how big Raminator is!!!
Home sweet home Sunday evening and off to another week at work
I'm really enjoying work a lot, it's fun to be able to say I like my job. It definitely has it's challenges, but it's fun :)

Happy 25th Aimee!!
Happy Birthday to my dear friend and neighbor Aimee - we hosted our first suprise dinner party last night to celebrate aim's b-day. Favorite moments? When we had all the lights off, aim walks in "hello...why are the lights off?" click, click, click, Nathan can't figure out how to turn the light on so we can say suprise! HAHA. So suspenseful! Also, new party game - playing facebook's 25 random things in person around in a circle. So much fun - I love you guys!

dodgeball
I had a fabulous weekend (not) skiing with the fam...more on that later - but as is appropriate I wanted to point out that at dodgeball on Thursday I got not one but TWO people out. Apparently all I needed to do was post on my blog my goals and they will come true :)
I think that the girl I got out maybe was a little sad at how excited I was as I was cheering when I hit her, but she doesn't understand how fabulous it is to finally hit someone with the dang ball!!! Granted, she tried to catch it and missed, but still, I got her! The next out I caught another girls ball. Take that team Dirty Laundry :)

Things are good in life :) We had an inservice at work today and it got everyone energized to try new things and get excited about patients we couldn't figure out how to help previously. It's so empowering to be able to put ideas and things I've learned over the past 6 years into actions and put my name on it!
Dodgeball game tonight...yeah, I'm on a dodgeball team. I think our record is 2-3, but I'm sensing a turn-around...we did win last week after all! It's pretty hilarious and I am absolutely awful...In 5 games I haven't gotten one person out. Everytime I throw the ball someone catches it. It is my goal by the end of the season to get someone out (Other than noticing that they crossed midline and yelling "YOU WENT OVER THE LINE! YOU'RE OUT!!")
Tonight MaryK is coming home and me her and aj, mom and dad, ellen and joe, and joe's sister jen and her husband kennedy and their son Liam are all going skiing for the weekend in West Virginia. I am so excited to do a fun romantic Valentines day weekend. Really I can't wait for the hot tub, my aching muscles have been thinking about it all week. I'll post pics next week (of the skiing, not the hot tub) :-)

Clean house :)
What a fun weekend I have had!
Friday Ellen and Joe graced us with their presence on the way to Cleveland so we got to spend the evening with most of the family, minus Mary:( , and Aimee and Erin too. It was a fun way to wind down after my first week of work. Everything is still good on that front - there will be a lot to learn but everyone seems very nice and it's so amazing to finally be doing what I've been meant to do for so long. It's also great to be able to do things on my own and have help if I want it, but ultimately it's my choice what I do!
Saturday AJ and I went to Wooster to celebrate Patty's birthday and have a dinner party in her new kitchen! It was great seeing the Gortners and Fishleighs and Sheena and catching up. We played Cranium which is kind of an interactive board game with charades and pictionary and trivia all rolled into one -- so much fun!! I definitely recommend the game! It is so nice to be so close to lots of good friends and family again and to be able to do these kinds of things without much notice.
I've spent all day today cleaning and FINALLY unpacking some of the remaining boxes from the move. I'm about 3/4 of the way done, but I needed a break! It feels more like home to finally have pictures out and hanging and to not have boxes laying around. Well I guess there is still a toilet in my living room...haha but hopefully that will get moved to the bathroom this week! The bathroom is looking GREAT, Brian is doing a great job - the shower wall tile is just about done and so is the floor tile. I can't wait to see it all finished!

RIP flashcards
Last night our fabulous neighbors Aimee and Erin came over for dinner and a movie and a little celebration where we burned my hundreds of board study flashcards :) Oh what a fire... :)
Today at work I got to sign my name Elizabeth Jones, DPT -- hooray! And got a few of my own patients...there is soooooo much to learn about insurance stuff, but I'm hoping eventually it will all come to me.
Happy Happy Birthday Shayna!! Wish I could celebrate with you like last year!! Can't wait for our visit that has to happen eventually!

day 2 - still good :)
Day 2 I spent in Fairlawn at a different ProStep facility to meet my 'mentor' and learn about the paperwork and such. I wasn't sure how it was going to go because when I called him to see what time I should come he was like "who are you again?". However - he was really nice and a very good PT. I feel much more prepared to do the paperwork side of my job now and got lots of new ideas for my patients. I know my job is going to be really challenging, but that's why I started all of this so I'm pretty excited.
Happy Birthday to Patty today, I'm remembering many past birthday celebrations and missing college. Life will never be as carefree as it was in college, but I still feel really good about where my life is right now. Give it another week or so and I'll get into a good routine and I'll be like a real adult!

First day of work
Today I started work as my first day as a physical therapist - what a great feeling to be able to say that. It was great too that I didn't have to go in until 9:30 - a nice ease into work. I don't know if it is good luck or bad luck to have my employment anniversary on groundhogs day. I hope that doesn't mean I have to relive today over and over. Ha- not that it was bad in any way, just lots of paperwork. Also it sucked because I can't treat patients until I get my TB test read on Wednesday. So tomorrow I go to the Fairlawn clinic to meet my mentor and do some shadowing and learn paperwork and such. Anyways - on the other hand - everyone was very nice and excited to meet me and have me which was nice. Our friend Daniel works there and he was gracious to teach me as much as possible and I gobbled it all up. It's silly to think that just because I've been studying like crazy and been in school that I know it all about that facility -- so there's definitely a lot left to learn.
In other news - go steelers ! what a fun superbowl and it was fun to be with friends and family and neighbors for quite a comeback game. It made me miss Pittsburgh - although it is probably quite obnoxious there today. Although I think that I must have been bad luck for the team because they won the superbowl the year before I moved there and the year after I left! I'm sure they're glad to lose me. Don't get me wrong - if the Browns play the Steelers I'm for the brownies every time. I just like to see a good team win and there's really no way you could live in Pittsburgh and not catch on to the contagious energy that is the steelers.
Although it will be a while before my first paycheck it is such a relief to know that although I didn't do much today, at least I made some money and I will soon be able to put to work everything I've worked for for so long!! Does anyone know if the groundhog saw his shadow?

Hi, I'm Beth. I'm a physical therapist!
Hi friends and fam - I've been wanting to start a blog for some time now and told myself I would wait until I had something exciting for a first post. Well, last night after 3 agonizing days of waiting, I found out that I passed my boards and I am a licensed physical therapist! I took my 4 hour exam this past Tuesday and apparently Ohio is a little slow reporting results...my friends in Pennsylvania found out the next day! Ah well, the price I pay for living in my lovely little house with amazing friends and family in Canton :) Anyways, I passed and will be starting work hopefully Monday or Tuesday! I got a job at a rehab/skilled nursing facility called the Arbors in Canton. I was referred there by our friend Daniel and I'm very excited to start working - be a little less bored - and pay the bills with a little more certainty :)
So I'm trying to decide how to spend my final weekend of unemployment...I have been previously bored out of my mind, spending way too much time on the internet. I started reading Wally Lamb's "She's Come Undone" and am really enjoying it so far (thanks Aimee) and will need to read quickly so I can get the next book club book! I've also been sewing a diaper bag for a friend that is turning out quite cute!!
Other fun news - Our mid-remodeled bathroom now has walls and a working bathtub!! (pics to come). Our previous bathroom had original 1924 tile on walls and floor and although that is some peoples style it is not mine. We also had only a tub - no shower, a door to the outside, and a window in the area where the shower would be. So with the help of our friend Brian, we now have the door and windows closed in and a new window on the other wall. I hope that the rest comes together quickly - especially the toilet. I am sick of running downstairs in the middle of the night to go!!
Well, I want to use this blog as an outlet for my thoughts and to fill you all in on what's going on with the Joneses (the title was really a no-brainer) :) Hope it is entertaining and helps fellow internet addicts fill a little time in between checking facebook. :) Much more to come!
